CloudFloor FinOps & Cloud Cost Optimisation

A specialist cloud cost optimisation services engagement combining a 12-week intensive optimisation sprint with ongoing managed FinOps. Certification is based on engagement-level data from completed and in-flight programmes. This is a services certification — the methodology and conditions reflect the engagement-led delivery model.

Reduction in monthly cloud spend at 6 months post-engagement-start, against a 90-day pre-engagement baseline.
Vendor's headline claim
30%
CloudFloor's headline claim, observed in unconstrained engagements with engineering buy-in from day one.

CloudFloor's engagement model delivers a certified 18% reduction in monthly cloud spend within 6 months when buyer engineering teams are mandated to act on recommendations. The 30% headline is achievable in roughly 20% of engagements, predominantly those without prior reserved-capacity commitments.

Section 01 · The Model

The risk model

01 / 06

GO modelled engagement-level outcomes across 32 CloudFloor programmes from 2023–2025. The smaller sample reflects the services-led delivery model; outcomes are weighted by engagement size. Spend reduction is measured as the percentage decrease in monthly cloud bill, normalised for workload growth using the buyer's reported usage metrics.

CERTIFIED FLOOR · 18% 6-month spend reduction VENDOR'S CLAIM · 30% Best-case engagements 0% +50% 6-MONTH CLOUD SPEND REDUCTION · DISTRIBUTION OF COMPARABLE ENGAGEMENTS

Methodology

Engagements are measured against a 90-day rolling baseline of monthly cloud spend taken immediately before engagement kickoff. The post-engagement measurement uses the 30-day window ending at month 6 from kickoff. Baselines are normalised for buyer-reported workload growth (compute hours, requests, storage volume). Sample stratification accounts for AWS, Azure, and GCP exposure; multi-cloud engagements are scored against the aggregated bill.

What the floor represents

The 18% floor sits at the 25th percentile of the observed engagement distribution. The smaller sample size relative to typical product certifications reflects the services delivery model; GO has applied a confidence haircut of 3 percentage points to compensate for sample variance. The floor is correspondingly conservative.

Section 02 · Conditions of Success

Conditions of success

02 / 06

The certified floor depends on both parties meeting the conditions below. The model deteriorates rapidly when any single condition is unmet; failure to meet two or more typically produces an outcome in the lower tail of the distribution.

Buyer commitments

  • B-01Annual cloud spend of at least $500,000 at engagement kickoff. Below this threshold, optimisation economics typically do not justify the engagement model.
  • B-02Read access to all in-scope cloud accounts granted on day one of the engagement.
  • B-03A named engineering point of contact with mandate to approve recommended changes within agreed thresholds.
  • B-04No major cloud migration in flight during the engagement window.
  • B-05Buyer agrees to a 90-day stabilisation period before measuring outcomes; this allows reserved capacity adjustments to take effect.
  • B-06No competing internal FinOps programme running in parallel for the engagement duration.

Vendor commitments

  • V-01Senior cloud architect assigned to the engagement at minimum 50% allocation for the optimisation sprint.
  • V-02Weekly steering meetings with documented decision log for the duration of the optimisation sprint.
  • V-03Tooling-agnostic posture: CloudFloor will work with the buyer's incumbent FinOps tooling rather than mandating its own.
  • V-04Knowledge transfer plan agreed at engagement start; deliverable includes a self-service playbook at engagement close.
  • V-05Optional managed-service handover; this certification covers the optimisation sprint outcome regardless of handover decision.

Section 03 · Failure Modes

Failure modes

03 / 06

The conditions below appeared in 92% of underperforming deployments in the sample. Where any of these are present in a prospective deployment, the certified floor should not be relied upon; GO will issue a deal-specific advisory on request.

Section 04 · Playbook

Best practices playbook

04 / 06

The playbook below summarises the practices observed across engagements landing at or above the certified floor. Services certifications place greater weight on the pre-engagement preparation phase than typical product certifications.

Pre-engagement

Establish the baseline

  • Audit cost-attribution tagging; remediate gaps before kickoff.
  • Map engineering stakeholders; secure named POC mandate.
  • Inventory existing reserved capacity; quantify the structural floor.
  • Confirm no parallel FinOps programmes or migrations in flight.
  • Agree the 90-day stabilisation rule and the measurement window.
Optimisation sprint

Move fast on the obvious

  • Week 1–4: rightsizing, idle resource reclamation, savings plans.
  • Week 5–8: storage tiering, network egress optimisation, reservations.
  • Week 9–12: workload-level architectural recommendations.
  • Weekly steering with documented change-approval log.
  • Maintain an exception register for blocked recommendations.
Post-sprint

Hand over or hand off

  • Self-service playbook delivered at engagement close.
  • Optional managed-service handover; FinOps tooling agnostic.
  • Quarterly outcome reviews if managed service continues.
  • Re-baseline annually; cloud spend optimisation is iterative.
  • Re-certification recommended at any major architecture shift.

Scope, limitations & validity

What this certification covers

This certification covers CloudFloor's standard 12-week cloud cost optimisation engagement and the optional ongoing managed-FinOps service for buyers meeting the conditions in Section 02. The certified outcome metric is reduction in monthly cloud spend at 6 months from engagement kickoff, normalised for workload growth. The certification covers AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud workloads, including multi-cloud engagements.

What it does not cover

This certification does not cover: (a) one-off advisory or training engagements; (b) outcomes other than spend reduction (e.g. performance improvement, sustainability metrics, FinOps maturity scoring); (c) engagements with buyers below the $500K annual spend threshold; (d) workloads in classified or air-gapped environments; (e) engagements where CloudFloor's role is limited to tooling implementation rather than optimisation execution.

Validity & re-certification

This certification is valid for 12 months from issue and expires 08 February 2027. Re-certification is required before external citation beyond that date. CloudFloor must notify GO of any material change to its delivery methodology (team structure, tooling defaults, engagement length); material changes will trigger early revocation pending re-certification. Mid-term review at month 6 will reassess the distribution against new engagement data.

Insurance availability

06 / 06
Status
Available — efficacy wrap only
Efficacy insurance is available against this certification, underwritten by an A+ rated carrier. The wrap refunds engagement fees and rectification costs if the optimisation sprint fails to perform against the conditions in Section 02. Value insurance — refunding the financial shortfall to the certified 18% floor — is not currently offered for this engagement model, because outcomes depend materially on buyer engineering decisions outside CloudFloor's control even when all conditions are met. CloudFloor and prospective buyers may request a deal-specific underwriting opinion where conditions are unusually favourable.
